In Myanmar, more than 30 percent of the rural population still depends on contaminated
surface water sources for drinking water. UNICEF and its partners are working to bring
appropriate water purification technology to the communities. More than 3,000 ceramic water
filters have been made and distributed to villages and schools, where surface water is used.
